About Me
Hi everyone, my name is Nathaniel Shugarman, an avid physics student. I am a rising junior at Coral Shores High School in the Florida Keys. The COVID pandemic kickstarted my passion since I had lots of free time to find something I was interested in. I used COVID to get ahead in mathematics and start learning calculus (I took AP Calculus AB as a high school freshman, and I just took AP Calc BC and AP Physics 1) and the ideas of modern-day physics. I've been to PZMC Math camp at Williams College, Duke University Pre-College: Particle Physics, and Brown University Pre-College: Quantum Mechanics: The Intersection of Physics and Philosophy. I am particularly interested in quantum mechanics, particle physics, quantum interpretations, quantum gravity, relativity, the unification of the four fundamental forces, dark energy, and dark matter, the arrow of time, antimatter, life on other planets (not really physics, but still cool!), and lots of other related topics! Most importantly, I am a strong Christian. I keep my work and theories away from religion, but if I can tie in my idea to God then I will try to.
Outside of this, I like to be a leader and help out in my community. I'm the current sophomore class secretary for my school, attended the University of Chicago Rural Leaders I Camp, and have over 120 community service hours through being a soccer referee, helping out at sailing camps, volunteer work in my school's Interact Club, volunteering for my church, and tutoring for other students via Mu Alpha Theta. I also spend a lot of time on schoolwork and my classes. I like to spend the rest of my time with friends, fishing, boating, running on my school's varsity cross country team (currently co-captain), and playing lacrosse for my high school's varsity team. Thank you for reading!
